Special events - Operation Homefront

I have to admit that I wanted to do something for our Canadian soldiers, but did not know what to do. When this opportunity came, I could not refuse. I had the honour to shoot military families this past weekend in order for the soldiers to get photographs for Mother’s and Father’s day.

I did not know what the lives of the soldiers are like nor for the families. That specific day that I helped out I got a firm education about what happens. These soldiers and the families are extremely brave and strong in this time of war overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many of the families that I photographed were very pleased with what we were doing. They also were looking forward to seeing their loved ones coming home.

So, there are no pics to show as I do not want to spoil on which soldier is getting an image. I simply say to the Canadian soldiers.

“Come home, safe and sound. Your familes and friends miss you very much!”

Hotel MacDonald Children’s Christmas Party

I had the pleasure to attend the Christmas party for the children of the employees at the Hotel Macdonald. Every year they do a “Breakfast with Santa” where the staff bring their kids to a wonderful buffet breakfast as well as meet good ol’ St. Nick himself.

Santa arrived right on time after singing Jingle Bells for the second time really loud so he can hear. He burst through the Empire Ballroom doors and laughed heartily ” HO HO HO”, the kids clapped and cheered at Santa’s arrival and sat extremely close to the stage to see if Santa would call their name. Santa was informed by all the parents that work at the Hotel MacDonald that all the kids present were very good boys and girls.

I have to say that I was impressed to all the staff that works at the Hotel MacDonald. They always have a smile and wonderful attitude when they are working there or when they are off work having a good time.
