Portraits - Backgrounds

backgrounds.jpg

I am a fan of colour and I like to find something different all the time.

I like to make things interesting for my clients, part of that is to find other things that will interest both them and me. Presently most of you know that I am working on a self portraiture project. That includes shooting myself every day for a year. Most of the time in the winter I have been inside shooting, but spring has sprung and I am itching to shoot outside for the remainder of the project. In order to keep my images interesting I have to find new backgrounds for me to shoot in order to keep clients and myself happy with the variety that I provide.

There is nothing wrong with ordinary, I just want to do a little more to make it an extraordinary experience for everyone . If you are interested in having a bit of colour in your future portrait. Do not hesitate at all to contact me either through email or phone to talk about your portrait.

Fine Art - Accreditation

Well it has been confirmed.

I submitted 10 images to the Accreditation Committee at the National Print competition this April and all images have been accepted. For those who are wondering, an Accreditation “demonstrates that the photographer is capable of delivering above average quality photography in a chosen category. The subject that I did was Fine Art. I have lots of it and trying to decide what to use was really hard. In the end of countless options I ended up with a great score and all the images did very well.

What is hard to do?-yes as I wanted to have images have insight to them. Would I do it again? I would like to. This taught me a lesson though. If you want something. You GO FOR IT. Do not let anyone or anything hold you back! Nothing stops you….except yourself.

Fine Art - In My Backyard

004-tulipleaves.jpg

It is interesting how one can find a gem in their own backyard. When my husband and I bought our house, we found out that it was involved in a huge fire and that the front and the back were BLOWN out. There was only the skeleton of the house left. We knew nothing about what the previous owner has planted in the garden at all. When spring came and all the snow had melted away we were very surprised to see tulips coming out from the soil that had been riden with ash and debris.

The tulip here has a yin yang sequence to it, (”The concept of yin and yang (or earthheaven) describes two opposing and, at the same time, complementary (completing) aspects of any one phenomenon (object or process) or comparison of any two phenomena” Wikipedia.com) and the past of the explosion as well as the renewal of another season and plant life to come about after a tragedy is wonderful to see. Especially if it is in your backyard.
